Beige Marble-Look Bathroom with Built-In Niche in Carson
About This Project
This bathroom remodel in a Carson home used warm beige marble-look porcelain on walls and floor, with a built-in tile niche in the shower zone and a glass enclosure separating the shower from the main bathroom area. The niche is one of the more technically involved details in shower tile work: it needs to be waterproofed on all five interior surfaces, sloped slightly toward the opening so water does not pool inside, and tiled so the horizontal grout lines run continuous with the surrounding wall tile. We sized the niche opening to land on full tile cuts on the sides, which keeps the pattern clean and avoids narrow slivers that are difficult to cut precisely. The beige marble-look tile has a warm, slightly veined pattern that photographs neutrally but reads as genuinely warm in person — well suited to Carson's bright, sun-filled interiors.
